The best-laid plans sometimes take a turn. Michelle Baker, named the number one salesperson in the 2022 Reader’s Choice awards, planned in 2018 to continue her 12-year career as a teacher at a local elementary school while selling real estate as a hobby. By the end of the school year, her hobby was so successful she had to choose between the two.

Baker’s plans continued developing. She became a successful real estate agent, and she is teaching those interested in doing the same. On career nights at the brokerage, which is at 224 E J St., Anniston, she teaches potential and realtors.

Her broker, Chris Lindsey of Good Faith Reality, named her the Director of Training, which gives current agents further training.

“What sets Michelle apart from other agents,” Lindsey said, “is her ability to develop trusting relationships with people from all walks of life. It comes natural to her. She truly cares about people.”

In addition, she has become a business owner. She started a boutique called “Dang Girl!” It grew and allowed her to partner with Gerri Langley, owner of Poppin’ Chics Home Decor and More. They opened a store together in Saks, renamed “Dang Girl! What’s Poppin’” and moved to 100 Bill Robison Parkway, Anniston.

“Michelle puts Christ above everything,” Langley said, “and God has blessed her in real estate and as a businessperson. She ministers to people any way she can, and her faith in Christ really shows.”

Baker’s business acumen has allowed her to become one of Good Faith Realty’s multi-million-dollar-producing agents. She specializes in representing first-time home buyers and sellers, serving investors and finding off-market deals.

“Each year,” she said, “I just want to be better — better for me, my family, my community and my clients.”
